Muse Member Challenge #2

*This is my second post for today. Continue to scroll down for a peek at my Clean and Simple Card*

Hi Everyone....I've been busy this week with my class over at the Clean and Simple Card Making 2 classroom but wanted to make time to enter a card into the Muse Challenge for this week. Today we are drawing inspiration from Suzanne Dahlberg beautiful XOXO card below. Aren't the colors that she chose magnificant!

For my card I chose similar colors in a lighter shade and used the same XOXO sentiment. I don't know about you but I can't get enough hugs and kisses! :)

Don't forget to head over to the Muse Challenge blog for lots of great inspiration!

Clean & Simple Card Making 2 - Day 2

Back today with a wee little card that a used a watercoloring effect that I learned in class today. Watercoloring was never one of my favorite things to do. As you can see my technique needs some work but none the less it was fun. One of our class instructors Julie Ebersole giggles why she creates her cards and you can tell she truly loves what she does. Isn't this hobby of ours just the best?

I used glossy accents on my LOVE sentiment on the label of my envelope. I came in a little closer so that you can see what a great effect this has.

Hope your day was filled with smiles and giggles! Can't wait for class tomorrow. :)

Clean & Simple Card Class 2 - Day 1

Hi Everyone....Today I started my much anticipated card class Clean and Simple Card Making 2 and boy was it worth the wait. The instructors Kristina Werner, Julie Ebersole and Jennifer McGuire were awesome. There were three video tutorials and all of the tips were fabulous. LOVED it! My homework for tonight was to create a card based off of one of the card samples given in class. I chose one card style but used a masking and some design techniques that were presented in all three of the videos.

FUN, FUN, FUN, can't wait until class tomorrow!

P.S. It's not too late to sign up so if you're interested click here.

Are they just the cutest......

Thought I'd pop in real quick today to show you some critters I have been working on for Valentine gifts. I was out shopping at Walmart last night and spottest these puppet kits in the Valentine isle and couldn't resist. I know they're a bit kiddish but I couldn't help myself and they were only $2.47 for the entire kit plus I had supplies left over that I am going to make cards out of to coordinate with the gift.

Assembly was a cinch and I just made one modification. I wanted them to appear as though they had a head but I also wanted them to be bags instead of puppets. So.... I cut off the bottom portion of a brown lunch sack that I had in my stash and adhered it to the front of the bag. It worked like a dream. Here's a closer look.

Well here's the line up. Aren't they just the cutest things!

On a funny note if you read my post yesterday I was feeling a bit sorry for myself because I am having camera issues. My camera is quite old and the picture quality is a bit unpredictable. When I was talking with my son last night he said Mom you have an iphone for Pete's sake why don't you take picture with that. So today's post pictures courtesy of my iphone...not too bad *wink* What do you use to take your blog photos?

Happy Sunday my friends!

P.S. Stay tuned as I am started my on line Clean & Simple Card Class 2 tomorrow and will fill you in on all the deets :)

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

Hello there! Hope you are having a happy Friday. I am down to the wire with my entry for this months blog hop at Papertrey Ink. So here you go...... the challenge was to create a black background.

This is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

So I happened to stop in at Michael's today, big mistake, and found this wonderful washi tape from Recollections.

The wheels started turning in my head and I knew I needed it along with lots of other goodies. Various brands of washi tape are now 40% and then you can use another 15% of coupon on all sale items so its a great deal. I got home and looked through my stamp stash and couldn't seem to find anything to go with this cute tape so I decided to improvise and create my own CLICK CLICK CLICK background paper in MS Word using a design concept that I saw Jennifer McGuire use this past week. I also created a catchy sentiment and then cut that out using PTI's Mat Stack 1 die. I thought it needed a little more color so I stamped a border from PTI's Mat Stack 1 Collection stamp set in Tuxedo Black by Memento. I cut out one of the small camera images on the tape and then used a strip of the coordinating tape to ground my sentiment and image.

I thought it needed a little bling so I added a rhinestone on the camera lens. I did emboss the black paper with PTI's Diamond Impression Plate but unfortunately it didn't show up very well. Wishing for a new camera. :)  Thanks so much for hopping by.

Have a great weekend!

Muse Member Challenge #1

The new Muse member challenge blog is hosting their first challenge so I thought I would
jump in and join the fun. Using the flower on Amy's card for my inspiration and some design priniciples that I am learning in a workshop called Journey Into Card Making with Julie Campbell I created this card. I also CAS'd this washi tape idea from Doodlebug Blog DT member Sherry Cartwright. Gotta love that washi tape!

If your not familiar with Julie's class it is great for the beginner and seasoned stamper. Much time is spent going over design principles and even though I have been stamping for a long time it really challenged me to think about how I create my cards.

Thanks for popping by!

Hey there...

How about calling me up for a friendly chat?

Make sure you head over to Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Blog as they are having a really fun challenge this week.

This weeks Trend Watch Challenge is all about one of our favorite pass times.....the good old telephone. We were given this picture for inspiration.

For my project today I printed this image and punched out the small dial using a 1 1/4" Circle punch. I thought this would make a perfect center for the flower that I created using a leaf that I masked from PS Reflections stamp set. Using SU Midnight Muse and Memento London Fog ink I stamped around a 1 1/4" circle to make my flower image below.

I cut out the flower image with a Fiskars exacto and then adhered the dial to the center to create my flower.  I cut two pieces of SU Midnight Muse Satin Stitched Ribbon and attached them under my flower to give the appearance of leaves. The background for my card was created using SU Whisper White CS cut out with PTI's Hexagon Die. Using SU Midnight Muse CS I punched numerous circles with my SU 3/4"Circle Punch and attached them to the back of the die cut image with a Fiskars Glue Pen. Using some SU Dimensionals I attached it to a Whisper White card front. The flower image was then attached to a 1 1/4" piece of Whisper White CS that I made into a banner by chomping off the end with my 1" SU square punch. I love doing that! I can create banners out of any size cs I wish. I finished off the banner using the "Hey There" image from Paper Smooches Sentimental Sampler Stamp set. I masked the image using scotch tape so that I could fit the phrase into my small space. I also used the three small circle images from PS Reflections for my ... and stuck some rhinestones in them for a little extra bling.

Hope you are having a great weekend. Remember to give a friend a call and tell them how much they mean to you! Thank goodness for the good ol' telephone. :)

P.S. Paper Issues is having a blog give away that ends today so make sure you hop over and get in on the fun!

Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge

Back today with a tag I whipped up for Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge. This weeks challenge is to create a new project (card, tag, layout, altered item, etc.) using at least one stamp or free digi image from Paper Smooches.

After looking at my Paper Smooches Yummers stamp set I had visions of something yummy to bake (not that I haven't had enough sweets the last couple of weeks...ugh!) The heart image in this set reminded me of a cookie and with Valentines Day just around the corner I dashed to the kitchen and whipped up some cookies to package up to give to that special someone.  I knew with Paper Smooches Yummers set I could make a cute tag so here's what I came up with.

This tag went together really quickly. I stamped PS's "baked with love" sentiment in Memento tuxedo black ink onto PTI 's tag die cut out with PTI white and pure poppy cardstock. Then I stamped the heart image onto white cs with tuxedo black memento ink and cut it out with my cutter bee scissors. Then I used Copic marker R29 to fill in the hearts and then added some 2 Way Glue and Martha Stewart Coarse Crystal Glitter for some bling. I adhered Martha Stewarts red/white washy tape to both ends and then popped my sentiment tag with some SU dimensionals.

I finished off the tag with what I call "hairy" red ribbon from my stash(sorry don't know the manufacturer) and white pon pom ribbon from Michaels. I used a white bakery bag topped with PTI's Pure Poppy Saddle Stitched Ribbon to house my goodies. Hope you like it!

Remember....Craft til your hearts content! XOXO

Happy New Year!

Popping in today to share with you some "Thank you" notes that I have been working on. First up I have a Christmas thank you that I made using one of my favorite PTI dies the Christmas Tree Die.

I have been using PTI's Hawaiian Shores and Stampin Up's Certainly Celery color combo and I really love the way they look together. Using PTI's Think Big Favorite #1 I stamped Thank You in Hawaiian Shores onto White CS that have been cut out with SU's Framelits Window Frames collection #129021.
I embossed the Christmas tree and star with PTI's Filigree silver embossing powder and added some blue rhinestones. I adhered all of my elements to a piece of Hawaiian Shores CS that I had run through PTI's diamond impression plate.

This second group of notes I CAS'd from Nicole Heady's blog and changed it up a bit by using PTI's Green Boutique paper instead of the houndstooth background to make assembly a bit quicker. Anything quick and easy and I'm all over it. :)

The Thanks So Much was stamped in PTI's Hawaiian Shores ink onto White SC that had been cut out using Mega Mat Stack 1. I stamped the branch from PTI's Winterberry stamp set in SU Gumball Green ink. Then I used Copic Marker BG05 to color the interior of the leaves. Using a Quickie Glue pen along with some Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter I gave the leaves a bit of bling. I stamped leaf sprig on a strip on Gumball Green CS using SU Gumball Green ink and matted it on top of a strip on PTI's Hawaiian Shores CS. The background paper that I used for all of the cards came from PTI's Green Boutique paper collection.

I hope you are enjoying your day today. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2013!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
