Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge.....

Hi friends..... It's Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge time and once again I am down to the wire with my entries. This weeks challenge was to get out all those scraps and create something fun. One lucky winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to Michelle's Scraps. If you have visited my blog lately you might have noticed my recent obsession with My Minds Eye fine and dandy line called tickled pink. I have been having a blast creating gifts with this darling line and have lots of scraps left over so this weeks challenge came at just the right time. :)

And card #2..........

I happened to stumble upon Kristina Werners blog where she is featuring a "Countdown to Valentines Day" with Basic Grey. She has posted a great video tutorial where I got the inspiration for my card sketches today.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a great weekend!

Hi Friend......

Hope your day has gotten off to a great start! We finally finished shoveling all of the snow..... grand total of 18". Temps are supposed to drop to 9 below tonight... brrrrrrrrr. I am wishing for spring. :)

On to my post..... Karen Giron is hosting "The Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 102" and I am down to the wire with my entry.

I just purchased Jen Allyson's Tickled Pink paper from the fine and dandy line at My Minds Eye. The papers are so fun and colorful. I also bought the Tickled Pink banner stickers that I used for the banner on my card. There are 87 banners and a complete alphabet set on this sticker sheet for just a few bucks.... such a deal!

Thanks so much for making me part of your day today dear friends!

Get Sketchy Scrappy Saturday Challenge....

Hi friends! As I write my post today we are having a huuuuge winter storm here in the Midwest. I am sitting in my studio looking out at a BLIZZARD! Kinda pretty though as long as I don't have to be out in it. I got to leave work early and I don't have to work tomorrow so I get to spend some time doing what I love. :)

Wee Memories is hosting their Get Sketchy Scrappy Saturday Challenge based off of the sketch below. I have been busily working on Valentine gifts using some of PTI's Simple Valentine paper pack which I LOVE! I know, I know you are probably all getting tired of seeing me use this on most of my posts lately but I just can't get enough of it. It just makes me HAPPY. :)

I started with a card base using DeNami's red cardstock. It has a little bit of texture which I like.... adds just a bit of interest. I added some layers using PTI's perfect match cs in white and hibiscus burst. Before adding my Simple Valentine patterned paper I snipped the corners with SU corner punch and then added some red brads from my stash to each corner. Using a strip of companion paper from the Simple Valentine collection I added some pure poppy scallop strips that I had cut using PTI's small scallop border die. Then I layered the strip with some hibiscus burst saddle stitched ribbon and added the Love You sentiment from PTI's Simple Valentine stamp set which I adhered using PTI's pure poppy twine.

While I was out shopping at Michael's the other day I ran across these cute petite doilies/tags from Martha Stewart.

Aren't they just the cutest!  I thought one of these cuties would finish off my card nicely. I adhered a medium white cs heart onto a large pure poppy felt heart cut with my newly purchased heart prints die from PTI. Every card has to have a button right?... so I added one of DeNami's bubblegum boutique buttons with a little pure poppy bakers twine bow.

Hope you like it! Make sure to hop on over to the Wee Memories blog and join in fun.

A New Look....

After much thought and blog hopping I thought it was time to update my look. I love the simplicity of Karen Giron's blog and she had done a great job creating some of my watermarks so I thought I would ask her if she did any blog design. She sent me to Sweet Shoppe Designs and well...... I fell in love with the concept of their blog in the box.

I quickly purchased one at $5.49 (such a deal!) and couldn't wait to get it up and running on my blog, but those of you who know me know that I am extreeeeeeeemely technically challenged. So..... after hours of trying to figure out how to install the wonderful concept of the blog in the box I resorted to emailing one of their bog installers "Graffiti Chicks". It was the best decision I have ever made. Owner, Becca Bonneville, quickly and I mean quickly.... (she responded to my email in a matter of an hour) came to my rescue. She had my blog up and running in a matter of hours. She is so sweet and talented.... a jewel to work with. Don't you think she did an awesome job?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Be Mine.....

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. It is freeeeeeeezing here in the Midwest but it is supposed to warm up tomorrow( high of 17 degrees). That will be perfect football weather for our Chicago Bears who are playing the Green Bay Packers for chance to go all the way to the Super Bowl. I hope to be celebrating a victory tomorrow night. :)

On to my card for today. I just received my PTI order full of Valentine goodies and I am loving the 2010 Love Tags. How about that LadyBug..... isn't it just the cutest thing. I started with an red A2 card base from DeNami Design. Then I adhered 5 x 3 3/4 piece of DP paper from PTI's Simple Valentine collection. I stamped my little LadyBug friend on some PTI's white cardstock and colored him in with Copic markers R29, R85, R20 and 0 colorless blender.

Using a glue pen I adhered a little Dazzling Diamond glitter from SU. I punched him out with my 1 3/4" Paper Shaper circle punch and adhered that to some red and pink cs that I had cut out using Spellbinders Label 3 dies. Then I cut a 1 1/2 x 3 3/4 strip of companion paper in the Simple Valentine collection and adhered it.  Last but not least I added a bow using PTI's Pure Poppy Saddle Stitch ribbon with a sweet blush button and simple little tag with the sentiment Be Mine. Hope you like!

XOXO.........

Hello my friends! Sorry for the infrequent posts lately...... needed to get caught up with life. Hope you all have had a great start to the New Year. It is hard to believe that Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

I have some projects that I am working on that I will post in the next week or so. If you are looking for a fun gift idea for a friend, co-worker or just anyone you think needs some extra love, I have a cute simple
Valentine in store for you. Stay tuned......

I created the gift card holder above with some products from Papertrey Ink. The small glassine bag, patterned paper and stamped heart & valentine images made this project come together quickly. I found some XOXO ribbon from Michaels in my stash and thought it tied(pardon the pun) everything together perfectly.

Hope you are having a perfectly wonderful day!

XOXO,

Laurie :)
