Celebrate today..........

Happy Monday to all of you! Hope you had a great weekend. A quick post today as I need to get this birthday card off to the post.

I started with a piece of DeNami's white cardstock to create my card base. I stamped the Filigree Centerpeice in Memento's Rich Cocoa onto a scallop circle using my Marvy 2 1/2" Scallop Circle Punch. I colored the filigree in with Brillance Pearlescent Jade ink using a watercolor pen. I thought it needed a rich background color so I punched a 3" scallop circle in DeNami's Chocolate Brown cardstock. Using a white galaxy marker I added a dot on each scallop. I grounded it on a strip of Iridescent Aquamarine and Chocolate Brown cardstock. DeNami's Arched Celebrate Script stamp was the perfect sentiment for my dear friend.

Hope you had something to celebrate today!

Laurie :)

WPlus9 Color Cue Challenge......

Happy Friday! Whoo Hoo! I am am so excited that the weekend is almost here. I have a quick post today. Dawn at WPlus9 is hosting another color cue challenge.
Aren't the colors great! I decided to put a Fall twist on my card today. I used WPlus9's Funky Foliage stamp set. I can't tell you how many times I have used this set. It is so versatile.... so many creative possibilities!

I stamped some fall looking trees with a little Memento's Rich Cocoa, SU's Summer Sun and PTI's Pure Poppy Ink. I chose to mat my images with PTI's Aqua Mist and added a quick scallop border using PTI's medium scallop border die and stamped the scallops with the plaid tree topper from Funky Foliage in Pure Poppy. I'm a sucker for plaids. :) I thought a little of PTI's Pure Poppy Saddle Stitch ribbon would finish off the card nicely. Using pop dots I adhered my image to PTI's Summer Sunrise cardstock. Easy Peasy!!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs and Smiles,

Laurie :)

DeNami's Theme Challenge Time!

Hello there everybody and Happy Friday to all of you! Speaking of Happy..... DeNami is having a  Birthday theme challenge on the DeNami Design Blog today.

I decided to use black, golden yellow and white for my color combo for this challenge. As most of you already know I am a big fan of DeNami's Large Daisy stamp and since I decided to use this color combo choosing the daisy was a no brainer.

I started with DeNami's white cardstock as my base and used a corner rounder for one corner on my card to add a little interest. I had to restrain myself from rounding the other corner..... I am a bit anal when it comes to these kinds of things.  :) Using my Versafine Onyx Black ink I stamped the daisy, colored in the middle with my Y15 and Y17 Copic markers and then cut it out. I wanted it to stand out on my card so I decided to add Sparklets Ultra Fine Glitter to each petal using my Squeeze and Roll Glue Pen by EK.

I am still in polka dot mode from DeNami's first Blog Hop so I grabbed a piece of Golden Tangerine cardstock and stamped DeNami's Polka Dot Background stamp with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Aren't polka dots fun? Then I cut two strips of black cardstock with my small scallop PTI die, adhered it to the golden tangerine polka dot panel and then to the front of my card. I popped my daisy with some foam adhesive and then added a little bling with some rhinestones from Recollections.

I finished off the card with a simple Happy Birthday sentiment from the All Occasion Sentiment stamp set. So Simple!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Featured Product At DeNami!

Happy Wednesday to all of you! I hope your day has started off well. DeNami is featuring one of their new stamps called "Apple Basket" on the DeNami Design blog today. I don't know about you but Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year. I look forward to the crisp cool evenings, the colorful leaves, and my frequent trips to the apple orchard! I love apples....... maybe this is why I am so partial to this stamp.

I started my card by stamping DeNami's new Apple Basket and Large Winter Tree on some cream cardstock and then added some apples from the Apples and Pears Petit Four set. Using the Whimsical Flowers set I stamped the leaves and was able to quickly color my images in using a variety of red, green and brown Copics. I used some Crystal Lacquer on my apples to give them a shiny yummy look. Red cardstock for my card base and a single mat cut from kraft paper created a nice warm tone for the background.

I thought it might be fun to cut out my apple basket and pop it with some foam adhesive to give it a bit more dimension. I finished my card off with a simple "Hello" sentiment from the Assorted Greetings Stamp set.

Make sure you hop over to the DeNami Design Blog and take a peek at some of the creations from some of the talented DeNami DT members.

Have a great day!

Scrapbook Design & You

Hello there! Just a quick post today as I am preparing to teach EK Success's Scrapbook Design and You tonight at our local Michaels. This scrapbook course is jam packed with great information for someone wanting to learn the art of Scrapbooking. I wish I could have taken this course before I started scrapbooking in 1997.

It is an 8 hour course(done in a 4 week format) that covers tools, organization, color methodology, layout design, element placement, creative writing, decorative pen tricks, journaling and titles, sticker and punch art. Whew!..... thats a long list. I am definitely looking forward to sharing SDU with others.

I will be back tomorrow with a new featured product from DeNami! Hope you have a blessed week.

Buddy's Home!

Buddy is home and resting comfortably after a very eventful day yesterday. His surgery went well and he has plenty of pain medication to keep him comfortable. I think the thing that is making him the most uncomfortable in the cone that he has to wear around his head to keep him from licking his sutures. All in all he is one lucky dog!

Well do you want to know what he swallowed?

Another ACORN!!!!!! Even after we chopped down the tree! We still can't figure out where he got it from. Oh well, I am just so glad to have my Buddy back home safe and sound.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My Buddies.....

Hi Everyone! I just have a quick story to tell today about one of my Miniature Schnauzers "Buddy"(pictured on the right). After a 2 days of flu like symptoms and a long sleepless night last night my little guy had yet another surgery today for a bowel obstruction. Yes, this is surgery #2 for him this year, and yes, you are probably thinking that we are crazy. We are. Crazy in love with this dog, both of them for that matter.

It all started last December with flu like symptoms and many tests later to find that our little guy had an acorn lodged in his small intestine. Do you believe it? An acorn of all things. So, we did what any responsible pet owner would do and proceeded to chop down our big beautiful oak tree in the back yard in an effort to save Buddy from any further acorn escapades. We thought that our troubles were over, but then a few days ago he started exhibiting the same symptoms again. We wasted no time getting him to the emergency clinic this morning and after one ultrasound test they reported that he had swallowed a foreign body. So, we were faced with the decision to have him undergo yet another surgery.

And yes, because we are crazy about this dog, he had surgery this afternoon. I just got a call from the animal hospital that he made it through the surgery and is in ICU. Are you wondering what the foreign body was??????? I haven't talked with the surgeon yet so you will have to come back tomorrow for the all the details.

A special thanks to my blog friend Paulina for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. :)

Have a blessed night,

Laurie :)

TE Sketch Challenge #123

Happy Sunday friends! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Just a quick post today as Taylor from Taylored Expressions is challenging us with yet another one of her creative sketches on her blog this week. The inspiration for my card today came from this sketch:

I chose one of my favorite TE stamp sets Berries & Cherries for this fun challenge. I tried tipping my strawberry image a bit like Taylors sketch, but for some reason it just didn't look right so I left it alone. I used some Glossy Accents by Ranger on my strawberries to give them a yummy look. This set is soooo sweet it is almost good enough to eat! :)

Make sure you hop on over to Taylors blog and see what some of her talented designers have done with this sketch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!!

Thank you berry much for stopping by today!

Hugs,

Laurie :)

Product Challenge at DeNami!

If you like bling you need to head over to the DeNami Design blog today for the product challenge this month. It's all about glitter and the DeNami DT is up for the challenge.

If you're not familiar with the DeNami Sparklets glitter line you must check it out. They are an extra fine glitter that really reflects light to the nth degree. I love strawberries so when I spotted some strawberry candies while shopping the other day I knew I had to buy them and create something yummy.

So....... I decided to create a little box of candies using DeNami's small Clear Boutique Box. I stamped some strawberries from DeNami's Tropical Fruit stamp set in Memento tuxedo black ink on 2 - 3/4"x 6" pieces of DeNami's White Cardstock. I grabbed Copics R29 & G07 and had the berries colored in no time. I punched one of the berries out using a EK 1" round circle punch and then used my ZIG 2 - way squeeze & roll pen inside the strawberry image and then I added some Ruby Red Sparklets glitter and Voila!!!

Using a Marvy 2" Scallop Punch & DeNami's Medium For You Circle stamp I created a quick topper for my box. I adhered my glittered strawberry circle to a 1 1/4" circle that had been punched from DeNami's Red cardstock and attached that to the scallop piece and then to the top of the box.... mission accomplished!!!!

Make sure to hop over to the blog and see what the other DeNami DT members have created.

Have a blessed day!

Laurie :)

I used PTI's Curvy Square Card Template from the April Color Couture collection with some pure poppy paper and a few Making Memories yellow brads. Easy peasy!!
